                                        Below are just some of the open houses ln the New York Area.  For more information on open houses please visit the specific college/university website.


                                        College Visits

                                        Most colleges will provide you with a tour and information without a reservation.  Some colleges may require that you first contact the admissions office for dates and times of tours.  Just to be safe, always contact the college first before visiting.  They may be able to provide you with a special tour or have you sit in on a class.  Plan a college road trip where you visit a group of colleges in the same area.  If you can't leave town, try visiting one of the local recruitment offices:

                                        The American Academy of the Performing Arts Open House and Audition

                                        The OPEN house is on November 4th.  Auditioning for Seniors will take place on Saturday November 5th if you bring your transcript and a letter of recommendation to the Open house.  To view information on the audition visit http://www.aada.org/admissions/audition_requirements.html.  If you would like to attend the open house please speak with Andrey Tarnarutskiy.

                                        Getting into college workshop for families

                                        Options at Riverside Community Center at 593 Columbus Avenue (1train to 86th Street) will be hosting this event on Wednesday, October 26th between 6:00pm and 8:00pm.  You must register for this event by visiting www.surveymonkey.com/s/familyworkshop2011.  Options is an amazing program that I would highly recommend!  Space is limited.

                                        Saint Thomas Aquinas Open Houses

                                        FIT Portfolio Day for EOP students

                                        The FIT Educational Opportunity Program Office (EOP) would like to invite your students
                                          to two upcoming EOP Information days.  EOP Information days are an opportunity
                                          for prospective EOP applicants to receive invaluable feedback and detailed information from FIT faculty and Admissions personnel.  We are seeking your help in identifying seniors who have expressed interest in applying to FIT and who you think may be EOP eligible.  For information on qualifying for EOP at FIT, please visit our Website at www.fitnyc.edu/2920. 

                                        Students you believe may be eligible are invited to one or both of the events below.   

                                        EOP Portfolio Information Day Saturday, October 29, 2011, 10am-1pm
                                        Prospective students who are interested in the School of Art and  Design will have the opportunity to meet with FIT faculty and receive feedback  about their art and/or design work. Please encourage your students to
                                        bring  samples of their work, they can find suggestions for how to prepare a portfolio  at www.fitnyc.edu/2866.asp

                                        FIT Art and Design majors include:

                                        Accessories Design, Communication Design, Fashion Design,  Fine Arts, Illustration, Interior Design, Jewelry Design, Menswear, photography,  Textile/Surface Design and Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design 
                                         
                                        EOP Business and Technology Majors Day

                                        Saturday, November 19, 2011 10am-1pm

                                        This day is designed as an opportunity for prospective students  to meet and interact with FIT faculty as they discuss majors and career  opportunities with the School of Business and Technology. 

                                        FIT Business and Technology majors include: Advertising Marketing and Communications, Fashion  Merchandising Management, Production Management: Fashion and Related Industries   and Textile Development and Marketing

                                         Students  who  are interested in attending the October 29 or Nov 19, 2011 events must  RSVP Friday, October 21, 2011 at 5pm by emailing Eop1@fitnyc.edu.
